Backyard Projects

Well, this summer we decided it would be nice to build a pergola in our back corner for our family parties and barbeques. It turned out to be quite the project. We volunteered to host Teddy's Uncle's Fortieth birthday party so we were on a deadline. My awesome dad came over and framed up the pergola and I painted it. We had a guy pour us a nice concrete slab and I repaired and painted our jacuzzi gazebo. We ordered a new cover for the jacuzzi and are waiting for it to arrive still. Teddy's friend wired it for lights and music so we can enjoy it anytime of day. I bought two table sets from Target but one of the tables keeps getting broken during delivery so we are only set up with one but it still looks beautiful. We got Teddy a nice barbeque for Father's Day so we are ready for fun!! If only the weather wasn't over 100!!!! Thank you Dad and Mikey for the beautiful job you did. We love you so!!!

Phonics!!

I just had to share this funny story that Zekey did the other day. I must warn you that involves profanity so I apologize if I affend but it was sooo cute. Anyway, to keep the kids busy this summer I have them doing an hour of lessons, 20 min of reading, 20 min of worksheets and 20 min of computer reading games. I was working with Zekey on his 100 sight words that he needs to know for first grade. We were going through the list and some he knew and some he didn't. So I would have him sound them out. He comes to the word "as". He stopped and looked at it and starts in, "aaaaaaa," "sssssss". "aaaa, sssss". Then he stops and yells out, "ASS!!!!" It took everything in my being to not start laughing. I calmly explained to him that no, it is as. He had no idea that "ass" is even a bad word. His bad words are "stupid, butt, etc...." Boy, I wonder what more fun we will have sounding out words this summer!!!

On Daddy's Watch

Well, I have been working a lot because Teddy is taking the summer off to take a break from school. So while I am sleeping he has been running the house. He found Caelyn today up to her old tricks and decided to prove he isn't the perfect parent either.

Sadie is Eight!!

Sadie turned eight this past week and we had a slumber party for her. It was a long night with the girls. They slept outside in the tent but didn't quiet down until around midnight and then were up at 5:30 AM. We took them swimming the next morning for awhile. I think she had a good time. That is the last slumber party at our house for a long time!!

Zeke saw this Indiana Jones set up at Grandmas and had so much fun swinging from the trees and throwing the rope.

For her birthday Sadie got a pair of yellow tennis shoes. I was so excited to have found them on the converse web site. You can order any shoe in any color and even add their name to the spine of the heel. She had wanted yellow tennis shoes for months and we had looked everywhere. I had given up when I found the web site and had to order them. She was so excited. I told her she is the only person in the whole world with those shoes. She thinks she is pretty cool!!!!

Awards

I just had to post the picture of Payton and Sadie receiving their little awards at school for their performance groups. They both were selected by their teachers for being the best examples, workers and helpers for the magnet school year. I was so proud of them. They each got a really nice trophy. Congrats girls!!!!

Mother of the Year

Well, with the end of school coming we have been busy around here. I have been working every other day for two weeks and I am so tired!!!! The other morning I went up to take a shower and Caelyn followed me up. She usually piddles around the bathroom and waits for me but that day she decided to go play in the girl's room. I took my shower and got out and went looking for her. This is what I found.

I said, "Caelyn, What are you doing?" and she replies, "SWIMMING!!!!" I was so at a loss that all I could do was take a picture and clean her up. Luckily the kids had flushed the toilet. Boy, I am doing a great job on my observation skills. First the vaseline and now this!!!
