Sadie and Payton tried out for the school track team and made it this year. Payton had to quit because she pulled her hamstring in a soccer game two weeks ago but little Sadie stuck with it. She usually doesn't get much attention regarding her running ability because Payton is so much faster so she had herself convinced that she would get beat. I kept telling her she comes from very good speed genes, her dad, grandpa Ted, and of course Grandma Abby. So, we went to her track meet yesterday. She was assigned to run the 800yrds and 200yrds. Teddy coached her up on strategy with the 800 and told her to not start off too quick and to keep a steady pace and finish strong. Sure enough, she did just what her dad said and ran a great race coming in first, both boys and girls. She was a crack up as she rounded the corner where we were because she was doing lamaze breathing to keep her pace. It was pretty cute. She finished the day with the 200. She lined up next to this tall black girl and we both thought, darn it! Sure enough they started out and the black girl was in first but down the stretch came little Sadie with her "Kick" and she finished a photo finish at the finish line. The black girl beat her time by hundreths of a second but we were so proud of her finish. She is such a little trooper, always trying her best. Here are a few shots of her races. Good job, Sadie!!

The photo finsih. I wish I had caught the other girl. Sadie ran thru the string first but the timer's had her second.

Here is the 200 as they came down the stretch. You can see Sadie in far second, getting ready to bring on her moves!

Glad the 800 is over!!

You can kind of see her face doing the Lamaze breathing.
