What my Family Means to Me

Payton had a homework assignment to write an essay about what her family meant to her. Her teacher entered it in the family week contest and she won third place for her age group. We got to go to a nice ceremony where she got her certificate. Her essay is on display at the East Hills Mall. Check it out if you make it up there this shopping season!! Congrats Payton!! We are so proud of you!!

With the end of the quarter comes awards assemblies. The kids did really well this quarter and I promised I would post their pictures. They get so excited to see me with my camera! Good job guys!!!

Cal Poly Homecoming

Teddy and I both graduated from Cal Poly and love to go back to the old stomping grounds for quick get aways. This year we decided to take the kids to a football game to see where Daddy played and enjoy the new stadium. We took them around campus and showed them where we used to work, hangout, live, eat, etc... I think we enjoyed it more than they did but I think they enjoyed seeing college life. It was funny because we were telling them how when you are in college, you are always busy working on school stuff, even on the weekends. When we were leaving the game, as we walked to our car, you could see in the windows of the engineering departments and kids were in there studying and working on projects. They were all really impressed at how hard college must be and how tiring!! Funny how as hard as it could be, we all wish we could go back to those fun times.

Just had to post some of the cute pictures we took while running interference for my mom on friday, her last day. We took her to lunch to keep her away from the house so she wouldn't see the decorations and she was done an hour early and wanted to head home. Sunni and I proposed a photo shoot at the bus barn and washing buses was next. The kids had a blast getting all wet. Then home to wait for the exciting surprise. It was a fun celebration and I am sure Mom is excited to be home!!!

Payton's Inauguration Ceremony

So, last night Payton was getting out a dress for school and I asked her why she was getting so dressed up? She said aren't you coming? I said, "to what?" She said she had given me an invitation to her swearing in for today and I couldn't remember it at all. So, I begrudgingly went to the assembly this morning even though there were other things I had to do. When I arrived they had a band there, the color guard, a red carpet laid out. I took a seat to see the officers brought in by a judge, the chief of police, the chief of the Fire Dept. Etc.... They even had the Kern county assembly woman there. It was really nice. They each got up and gave a little speech about being examples and striving for excellence in service of your community and school. Then the kids each got to be sworn in. I didn't even know she had run for anything. She didn't even tell me!! Nice, eh? She was really excited and it was a very impressive little ceremony. Congrats, Payton!!!

Caelyn's School Carnival

Caelyn's little preschool had a halloween carnival on Friday. They did a little parade, jumped in the jumpy house and got to play a couple of games at different booths. They had a lot of fun and were sooo cute. They just walked from booth to booth with this bewildered look on their face. I had so much fun with them!
