Christmas Fun!!

We hope all of you had as nice a Christmas as we did. It was a busy time with many performances for the kids. Luckily we had the month off from sports to rest up. Christmas morning the kids came out on top with lots of fun stuff. We ate ourselves sick ad played hard. Here are a few pictures of the fun.

All Star Team

Zeke was selected for the all star team for his little Freshman football team. He was pretty excited. They had a little ceremony during the Varsity All star game and had the kids walk around the track with their medals. Here are a few shots of him and his fellow recepients. Go Irish!

Spotlight of the Arts

The kids just had their performance for Thorner. Zeke performed gymnastics with his group and Sadie had a tap routine. The theme American Pride. Zeke's group performed as astronauts and it was really cool. Sadie was in the lovely flag group. Good job you too!!

Halloween

I can't decide if I am really over Halloween. It is so much work and my kids are getting to the age they really aren't into it, except for Caelyn. We did manage to put out some costumes and they had a great time trick or treating with the cousins. Not to mention, I have had too great a time raiding their sacks!! Payton was Bieber. She was enjoying it way too much!! Sadie was a bumblebee, Zeke was Frankenstein and was not happy about it. He wouldn't pick a costume so I picked it for him. Once he got makeup on he was okay with it. Caelyn of course was Rapunzul. She loves to pose!

Halloween Festival

Here are a few pictures from the school Halloween festival. Sadie's dance group performed. She is a bee this year. Caelyn is Rapunzal as made by my mom. She was quite a character. Anyone who knows Caelyn, knows she is quite particular about her hair, how things feel on her. She drives me crazy with her "issues". We got her dressed and ready to go and five minutes later she was in tears that her hair felt "weird" and her dress felt "funny". We were already late and in a hurry so I almost lost what little patience I have but we held it together and managed to dress her again with a few new underclothes and redid her hair so that she didn't have any problems. Then she was so upset because her makeup was messed up. Sometimes these dress rehearsals are good though. Once we got to the carnival all was well and she had quite a time going from friend to friend taking pictures. Zeke refused to wear his costume because he is too cool. I think I am ready for them to no longer do the Halloween thing. It is such an ordeal. We will see what we come up with for the actual holiday.

Soccer Perks

Every weekend we drive to LA for soccer games for the girls. It is sometimes a drag but today the girls had the surprise of a lifetime. They were so excited to hear that David Beckham's son was playing his soccer game after us and he was there to watch. He was so nice to take a picture with the girls. Check out Sadie's face. She didn't waste any time getting right in there and wrapped her arms around him. Sadie said his stomach was hard and she could feel his six pack. What a dork!!

Student of the Month

Caelyn received her first award of her school career today. She was selected as student of the month for her class for "perseverance." I think the teacher felt for her since she cried everyday for three weeks before finally going to school with a smile. At the ceremony they said it was for friendship so I am not sure what the criteria was but she was so excited and surprised. Congratulations Caelyn!!

Student Council Inauguration

Today was Thorner's student council inauguration. Zeke was chosen as his class representative so he was sworn in with the other class reps. Sadie led the flag salute as her last act of office from her position last year as color guard captain. She ran for president but didn't win this time. It was a sad day but she pulled thru it fine. The reality of life has begun to sink in. For the first time, as sad as it is for me, she became self conscious and was worried about looking "stupid." Ironically the kid who one, did just that. It was a nice ceremony and Zeke was pretty happy. One of his friend's mom told me that Zeke was helping her son to be cool. He had directed him to do things like punch his pillow 15 times in order to get more muscles. I thought it was funny that Zeke thinks he is cool. He is quite a character.

Kern County Fair

Sadie had to perform at the Kern County fair this year. It was a lot of fun to watch them up there. We spent a little time looking at the animals and different vendors. Of course we had to go on a couple of ghetto rides. The kids had a blast. Caelyn was funny because they got free tickets for reading and when they gave her the ticket she told me we could go to the "Curtain County Fair." She loved it.

First Day of School

Like many of you it is Back To School Time. I have been looking forward to this year because my baby is in Kindergarten all day!! WHoo HOO!! She did great the first day and although there was an ache in my heart I was excited for her. She came home sooo tired. It is a long day for sure. I spent the day cleaning. Not much fun but figure once my house is clean, I have the rest of the week to relax!! Payton is in 8th grade this year and seems to be happy with her schedule. Sadie is in 6th and is enjoying being senior on campus. The first day she met up with friends and they were off to socialize. Zeke is in 4th and is a bit nervous. He always worries about performing well. Poor guy had the new shoe blisters after the first day. We are off to a great year!!
