Titanic 100th Anniversary

My boss was kind enough to purchase tickets to a huge fundraiser for Organ donation here in Bakersfield that was in honor of the 100th anniversary of the sinking of Titanic. They treated us to an 11 course meal that mirrored the meal they had the night the ship sunk. There were actors dressed as the Captain and the infamous Molly Brown. We had to dress in period dress and it was sooo fun. Here are a few pictures that were taken at the event and at home before we left. Teddy and I rented our outfits for the big event and felt so fancy. Here are pictures of the dining room, the menu, some of the characters and a few of my coworkers and I. It was so much fun!!

Easter

Here are a few pictures of the kids and their Easter baskets and Easter Egg hunt at the Alvarado's house. They were busy looking for the eggs with money in them. It was a fun Easter with lots of food to eat and candy to be had!!

Spring Break

This spring I couldn't take more than 5 days off so we went to the beach instead of Utah. It was a lot of fun with the cousins and friends. They all had a good time. We even had a Hunger Games party while we were there with shirt decorating, cookies and a tracker jacker pinata. It went by so fast!!

A Candle in the Dark

Sadie has been involved in History day at her school and they decided to highlight the Danish resistance against the Germans and the saving of the jews. It has been a 6 month process of research, interviews and stress before they finally competed this past weekend. Her group won the county competition and are moving on to the state finals next month. Here is the link for their performance. It is about 10 minutes long. The kids had to do the research, write the script and then did the performance in 10 minutes to highlight this time in history. It has been really interesting and we are pulling for them at state. If they win there they would go to Washington D.C. for Nationals in June!!

Science Fair/Oral Language

The kids have to do science fair projects in February and I hate it. It causes me so much stress and worry, stupid I know. Zeke did a study on what kind of shoes make you faster. He won first in his grade. Sadie and her friends did a project with GOO and testing it's ability to stick to objects. They won sweepstakes for the school which is first overall and got to move on to the county science fair. They presented today and Sadie's group recieved Honorable mention which is esentially fourth. Good job girls!
Payton and Sadie also did the annual Oral language festival. Payton's group did a verse choir where they perform a piece of literature and have to have at least two people talking at all times. Her group made it to the county competition and won second place. Sadie did a serious duo with her best friend, Stevie. They performed a story about organ donation and won first place in the county. Like a loser I didn't get a picture of them!! Busy kids!! Proud of you

Honk

Sadie and Zeke were in the annual school musical last month. They did the play
"Honk" based on the ugly duckling story. Sadie was a turkey and Zeke a frog. Here are a couple of shots of them in the play. They were really cute. Zeke told me he wouldn't do it again because he had to wear makeup. It nearly sent him over the edge. He was so mad that I had to put eyeliner on him. It was pretty funny seeing him up there. They did a great job!

Christmas Fun!!

We hope all of you had as nice a Christmas as we did. It was a busy time with many performances for the kids. Luckily we had the month off from sports to rest up. Christmas morning the kids came out on top with lots of fun stuff. We ate ourselves sick ad played hard. Here are a few pictures of the fun.
